Concerto 2D is an axi-symmetric solver, utilizing the FDTD method. Models are imported or created using the fully 3D Geometric Modeler, so it is still compatible with all the other Concerto modules. The solution time for even the most complex of model is only a few seconds, making it ideal for initial Optimization of new components, before passing the model to the full 3D analysis. Benefits For axi-symmetric geometries, the ability to only solve for the 2D cross sections means the solution time is orders of magnitude faster than a full 3D analysis. All the functionality of the full 3D solver is present, including the ability to solve waveguide modes (TE and TM, up to order 99), and radiation problems (such as horn antennas). The tools for adaptive solutions and model parameterization are all included, and the Optimizer+ module is available as an option if required. Key features can be set as parameters, and either modified in a script allowing multiple analyses to be automated, or be passed to the optional Optimizer+ modules for full optimization. The adaptive solver included within Concerto 2D allows the mesh to be automatically refined until a specific accuracy in solution is achieved. Applications With the inclusion of waveguide (TE and TM) modes and radiation conditions, it is ideally suited to the modeling of circular and coaxial devices, and circular horn antennas.
